Trump’s Words on Virus Calm the Nation…Not!

News with a Twist

We reveal where Trump is getting his “medical” advice”

In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, United States President Donald Trump said,

“A lot of people will have this, and it’s very mild. “They will get better very rapidly. They don’t even see a doctor. They don’t even call a doctor.”

Trump added: “So, if we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work—some of them go to work, but they get better.”

Super Tuesday Stunner!

New with a Twist

Great day for Biden. Bernie retools.

After a stunning Super Tuesday performance, former vice president Joe Biden took the lead in the Democratic party delegate count. In doing so, Biden leapfrogged Vermont senator Bernie Sanders who many thought would exit Super Tuesday with a substantial, and perhaps, insurmountable delegate lead.

While results from the biggest Super Tuesday prize, California, won’t be finalized for a few days, at this point, Sanders leads Biden in the Golden State; when the final California count is in it is projected that the overall national delegate count will be very close, with Biden maintaining a slight lead.

11 Months From Today

Commentary

A second term for Trump seems more possible than ever. But what would it look like? NY Magazine knows. And it’s not pretty.

This will be a very short edition of Around the Block as I’ll let New York Magazine do the most of the talking; for the most part, the article’s pictures will tell my story. (Believe me, it’s the pictures not the words that, in some formats, make this post two pages.)

Trump: Heat will kill coronavirus

News with a Twist

Reassures Americans that everything will work out fine, based on…um, read on

At a recent campaign rally President Donald John Trump (I) gave the cheering crowd his predictions regarding the fast-spreading coronavirus rocking mainland China and the rest of Asia. (Reports that no “Orientals” were allowed at the rally have not been confirmed.)

Calling it “rough stuff,” Trump assuaged* the crowd that it will “work out fine,” and that with warmer weather, the virus will die.

With Trump, the Founding Fathers must be turning over in their graves

News with a Twist

Actually, they’re doing a lot more than that

Note, the video in this post has received almost 400,000 YouTube views. With that kind of exposure, it’s likely you’ve already seen it. But even if you have, it’s so great it deserves multiple views. And many thanks to the friends and readers who forwarded it to me, giving me the opportunity to re-post it in Around the Block..

As we go from one Constitutional crisis to another, many people ask, “What would the Founding Fathers think?” And, how would they judge Donald Trump’s unprecedented assault on the rule of law? The conventional answer: “They must be turning over in their graves.”

But now, through the magic of YouTube, we know they’re doing a lot more than just turning over. They’re making their voices heard. They’re defending their creation, the Constitution of the United States from the slings and arrows of Trump and his toadies. They’re doing something that never appeared in their biographies or in the history books.

They’re singing!

New Hampshire and Iowa leave Democrats in disarray

Commentary

What now?

The results are in from New Hampshire and Iowa. (Actually, not sure if the results are really in from Iowa. Does anyone know where Steve Kornacki is? Oh, never mind.)

The small number of voters in those two states have spoken and from this perch it appears that Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg are building momentum, Amy Klobuchar is strengthening a bit, and Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden are seriously fading.

Roger Stone sentence reduced

Trump: Sentence “horrible and unfair;”

News with a Twist

Note: This story has been updated from the original post to reflect the latest news.

The Washington Post and the New York Times both reported today that in an unusual step, the Justice Department will back off its sentencing recommendation for Roger J. Stone Jr., President Trump’s former campaign adviser and longtime friend. A department spokesman said that senior department officials intervened to overrule front-line prosecutors who tried the case.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr. Trump declared the sentencing recommendation “horrible and very unfair, tweeting, “This is a horrible and very unfair situation. The real crimes were on the other side, and nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!”

Neither the Times nor the Post reported what the revised sentence will be. But Around the Block can!

Trump “Loves Concord!”

News with a Twist

And Grossinger’s too?

At a rally in New Hampshire last night President Donald Trump (I) said,

“Concord, I love Concord. I love Concord, oh Concord. You know how famous Concord is. Concord that’s the same Concord that we read about all the time, right. Concord. I love Concord!”

EXCLUSIVE: 49er Super Bowl collapse revealed

Was it “Mahomes Magic” or something else…?

News with a Twist

Five days after the San Francisco 49ers blew a 10-point fourth quarter lead in Super Bowl LIV, Around the Block can reveal to the world one of the reasons for the team’s collapse.

Sources inside the 49er organization told Around the Block, on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak, what really happened in those last eight minutes of the big game. We are only now revealing this information because those sources required a five-day hold on the the scoop to allow the global sports media and TV talking heads the opportunity to do their conventional analyses of the game.

Here’s the real story.
