You know the old adage, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
In this case, “A video is worth a million words.”
Watch this video of MSNBC’s Casey Hunt attempting to get comments from Republican senators regarding Trump’s “photo-op” at St. John’s Church in Washington DC on Monday (the link is right below the picture):
I will concede that in some cases words are pretty powerful as well. While most of the senators just walked past Ms. Hunt without any reaction, a few did respond with some tepid answers like, “I didn’t see it,” or “I’m late for lunch.”
But the most revealing and insightful comment came from the junior senator from Texas, self-proclaimed Constitutional scholar and former, humiliated, 2016 GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, who said,
“By the protesters, yes. By the violence, yes.”
Yes, those eight little words show, more than any video or picture, Cruz’s deep regard for, and support of, all things Donald Trump. Those eight little words coming from Ted Cruz, the same Ted Cruz who was vilified by Donald Trump in 2016; the same Ted Cruz whose father was linked to a crazy, debunked Lee Harvey Oswald conspiracy theory by Trump; the same Ted Cruz whose wife was consistently and grossly insulted by Donald Trump; that Ted Cruz.
I guess in the case of Ted Cruz, identifying him as “junior” really does mean something.
